1. Great presentation - thanks!
2. The cnn.com link did not work for me
3. Can I print the entire ppt presentation, to get the pictures
and notes? Is there a trick to it? I see it as a quick reference guide for me and for my adult kids when they have a question or problem.
4. What do you think of keeping all my accounts (financial and fun) and corresponding passwords, on a floppy or "thumb" drive that is secure? I literally have dozens pf passworded accounts, and having them all different is really a bitch sometimes.
5. I have XP Pro on my home PC and will see if disabling "Messanger" helps. What about deleting user accts I no longer need? This PC runs like a pig so I suspect a lot of stuff is going on in the background. I have the teenagers off MY PC now, and am considering wiping it clean and starting over. Your thoughts on that?
I have XP home on two other PCs and will check them as well.
Again, on behalf of us dillettantes... thanks!
If I asked too many questions, just tell me to go to hell!

1. No problem. I actually teach the class again on the 9th.

2. CNN removes articles after awhile. That one's apparantly gone now

3. PM me and I'll email it to you when I'm done updating it for the 9th.
4. The problem with putting all of your passwords on a thumb drive is what happens if you lose it or it's stolen? Will you be able to get into all of your accounts to change the passwords before others access them? It's better than writing them down, and it's better than picking bad passwords though.
Some people where I work are looking at this software:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/I havn't looked at it yet (hopefully will this weekend if I have time). That'd be another option.
5. Deleting user accounts you're not using is always a good idea, but it probably won't speed up your computer. In general, with Windows it's usually a good idea to reinstall the OS after a couple of years -- things start to slow down with changes to the registry, and reinstalling cleans that all up. It's sometimes a hassle, but it's not as hard as some people think.
Hope that helps some.
