The OH Dem Secretary of State, among other things, is required to insure the execution of a fair election process.

Jennifer Brunner got slapped by the OH Supreme Court - unanimously - for her attempt to invalidate GOP absentee ballots.

Of course, with her tail shoved between her whatever, she praised the process... rolleyes.gif

But feel free to deny, Dems. Your party is now controlled by hard leftists, socialists bent on rule by cadre, the self-important, intolerant, disputatious crowd. And like good sheep, you will follow them to the eventual removal of all individual rights and be subservient to the State. I wouldn't be at all surprised if in 30 years, your paycheck goes to the Federal government, and they will mete out money to you as they feel necessary according to their view - for your benefit, of course.

You saps can't smell the coffee, and in the rare instance that you do...you demand that the State protect you from the dangers of coffee.

Speaking of, I went to my local McD's for my morning coffee. The menu placards changed - the food pictorials on clamshells were replaced by the same food pictorial...but on plates. The shift manager got my coffee. I mentioned it to her. She rolled her eyes, put her palms out, shrugged her shoulders.

That is one of the most absurd assertions I've seen in a while. You haven't provided one bit of evidence to support that claim, nor do I think you would be able to.

I mean I guess the first thing we'd have to establish is who it is (if anyone) that actually controls the party. I like to think parties are not controlled by any one person, but maybe I'm wrong on that (Dick Cheney??). Then once we have a list of names we could discuss the character of these folks to see if they even come close to your labels. Right.

And we are also hearing of attempts to remove dem registered voters from rolls in battleground states like VA, NC etc. We need a simple freaking national registration process for folks, you register as a damn citizin and ya get an ID card and along with that if qualified the right to vote. When ya go to the polling place your card is read and the fact you voted is registered.

I see the usual parade of posts deflecting, ignoring and ridiculing the initial story but not one of you saw fit to comment on the proceedings in Ohio? This isn't ACORN or some other fringe group of nut-jobs where we expect this sort of thing, this is a corrupt Secretary of State directly influencing an election (cue the Katherine Harris references). Then again, I guess you all just proved Cincy's point -- that the Dems are now controlled by such nut-jobs that you are all happen to indulge as long as they lie, cheat and steal for your candidate.

Pretty ironic considering some of you were no doubt among the whiners in 2004 over Ohio's so called voting 'irregularities'.

"You are hearing"? WTF does that mean? Have you "heard" from any other state SUPREME COURTS with rebukes to Secretaries of State? Did you even read the links? doh.gif

Way to excuse outright vote fraud from the state's highest ranking official in charge of the process by attempting to compare it to unsubstantiated rumor. Fuggin' 'tard.

Democracy Now had a report on voter fraud and even had Brunner on for a ten minute interview. I haven't gotten to that interview yet, but the entire piece seems pretty relevant to this discussion.

Who do you think is blocking the requirement to produce ID when voting? Hint: It's not the Repig's...

IMO, this is despicable behavior by the OH Sec of State and there is no excuse for her actions.

Am I interpreting your reference to the so called voting 'irregularities' implying that they were nonsense and didn't occur? A precinct in an evangelical church in Miami County didn't report a 98% turnout, while a Cleveland inner city precinct turned out 7%, tens of thousands of registered democrats weren't purged from the rolls, voting machines were not misallocated, etc. etc. etc. None of that happened? dry.gif

No, I wasn't implying that at all. I don't recall all the specifics about Ohio in '04, although I do recall that a lot of it was either overblown or sounded like local shenanigans that both parties routinely pull. I certainly don't condone or excuse any of it from either side and find it appalling that both parties routinely engage in all sort of unethical and illegal behavior around the elections. If I was in charge, people caught doing such things (ACORN being the latest example) would find themselves with very long prison terms.

But I sure do think there is a notable difference when it is the Secretary of State designing and directing the fraud. But is she going to jail? Losing her job? Punished in any way? No. Big surprise that it will continue to happen over and over again.

ok, I wasn't sure, hence my question. It's hard to tell which election cycle in Ohio is worse: this year or 2004, based on the allegations, but in both cases, the Secretary of State appears to be the main culprit.

Update: OH Sec. of State Brunner has to check questionable voter registrations, per full 6th Circuit Federal Court decision. She relied on a 3-Judge panel of left-leaning Judges for her initial win for her party.

She certainly, at this point, comes off as one to corrupt the process... rolleyes.gif

High court rejects GOP in Ohio voting dispute
QUOTE
The Supreme Court sided Friday with Ohio's top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations.

The justices overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio's top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.

EDIT:
More details from ScotusBlog.
QUOTE
The Supreme Court, acting on the case after the Circuit Justice, Justice John Paul Stevens referred the matter to the full bench, not only granted the secretary of state’s plea to stay the federal judge’s temporary restraining order, but actually vacated it, thus removing any legal obligation spelled out in that order.
