I'm thinking of offering Santana Moss and Todd Heap for Torry Holt and Jason Whitten-- with my goal being to get a good TE. Fair? Too much of a stretch??

I think that is fair. Heap is a heap of sh1t - never stays healthy with a rookie QB. Moss is playing very well so far and Holt is not. But the big catch for you is Witten. He is by far the best fantasy TE. He puts up WR numbers. So you will be gaining more value than you are losing. Make the trade

Definitely do it if you can. No-brainer. The bonus is, with Linehan gone, the Rams may yet turn it around to at least be respectable. Holt could benefit.

The other guy may not want to though, since Santana just got the goose egg this past weekend which might decrease his perceived value.

IMO the other party would need to be on drugs to accept that trade; you'd be getting a steal. But what the hell...worth a shot.

I agee. If someone will make that deal with you, grab it and don't look back. The Cowboys are one of the few (maybe the only) team in the NFL right now, that consistantly uses their tight end as a major weapon. And Whitten is a great player, who will play hurt. I love Whitten, as much as I hate the Cowboys. I think whatever you lose in downsizing from Moss to Holt, you make up for with Whitten. Whitten is like having another top tier reciever on your team.

No way the other guy accepts this trade. But it's definitely worth a try...

He nixed it.

Here's my proposed follow-up: Moss and Sproles for Witten and Holt.

In our league, we count return yardage--thus making Sproles the 5th highest scoring RB in the league. I am reluctant to give up Sproles because he is an ideal fantasy back-up, but I have Addai, Ronnie Brown, and Deuce McCallister--a fairly decent stable of RB's.

I am getting zero production literally from my TE position, no matter which waiver wire scrub I try (this week it's Dustin Kellen's turn).

Would you guys make this new proposal?

I think I would do that...as long as you have another frontline WR. If you made the trade, what other recievers would you have to go along with Holt? Thing about Whitten, if he plays, you are practically guranteed to get 10-11 points out of him every week...Moss is good, obviously, but he goes where the Pats QB goes...Sproiles? How often can you play him, hoping he will get a kick return? I would take the sure 10 points per week from Whitten (and Holt ain't bad either) over an occaisional monster game from a back-up RB/kick returner. There are only really about 2 or 3 TE's in the NFL that can be as produtctive as Whitten is, week in week out. Having one of those 3 guys, is a huge advantage, IMO. A productive tight end can help nullify the effects of mediocre RB's or WR's.
