Cole was killing it. Dude was surgical today...his curves were hitting and when he adds that to his fastball and changeup, the guy is almost un-hittable. I was a little nervous about him having a tired arm, but he stepped up big time.

Lidge made it interesting for the 2nd game in a row. The guy has a bad habit of getting off to slow starts when he has a cushion. I don't know if he just isn't as focused when he knows he has a few insurance runs, but he is a very different pitcher than when he is in a do or die situation. His slider was off today, as it was last weekend. But no big complaints...the guy did what he is paid to do.

I heard Sheets is done for the playoffs. This series is feeling good already.

Just saw the end of the Red Sox game live (what a great way to start a day!!).
So much for the Evil empire II BS.... Nine innings of "built in the farm system " pitching plus Youki, Lowrie, Ellsbury, Tek and Pedrioa on the field. Not too bad. And nice to see Bay continuing to play at Manny Level

Cubs could be cooked. There was not a good vibe in that ballpark last night.

Normally with Big Z going in game 2, you'd assume they'd bounce back. But in his last 7 starts, he's had one no-hitter and six HORRIBLE outings. Control issues, attitude issues, velocity issues...Plus he had 10 days off in that stretch for shoulder stiffness. Not good on the north side.

Ya, that Chicago crowd was shell shocked. The one time they really got into it was when the bases were loaded and Lonely had two quick strikes on him and then....wack!

Vlad baserunning fugg-up really screwed the angels last night. Perhaps not playing a meaningful game since June is going to come back to haunt them.

Plus, Billingsley is a stud. 16 Ws and top ten in ERA and Ks. Cubs already facing a must win in game 2. Not good.

That was really a dumb play by Vlad!!
While the Sox gave them a lesson of small ball the following inning.

I like it when its plain baseball fundamentals that are the difference at the end not the number of HRs....

Yes, very underrated. He's a hard thrower with a nasty cutter.

The dodgers dont belong in the playoffs. We shoudl just "select" the angels and Cubs to play for the series, because they had the top records. It would put much more value in the regular season! think about it, each team would have 162 playoff games!

I wish it went down like that. It'd be worth it to hear you cry about it. The bitching would come from the teams that lost to the Angels and Cubs in the regular season...And from you of course...Just like college football!

Uh...I think he was being sarcastic in reference to the defenders of the current college football system. But I could be mistaken. unsure.gif
