Full Version: More exciting or just boring

Do you find the playoffs more exciting or more boring when the league's greatest franchises like the Cardinals and the Yankees are not involved. These teams have been dominant for a long time and I could see how some people might like "fresh faces".

Personally, I think it is good to see a team like the Yankees that tries to buy the pennant be replaced by the Rays. On the other hand, an all class organization like the Cardinals will be missed. The NL just won't have any traditional teams in the playoffs this year. That's too bad.

In America "Team" and "Doormat" are two different things.

I'd like to see you say that in the middle of a group of Phillies fans!

Look everybody. The French guy doesn't recognize a doormat when he sees one.

Basebell in October is always exciting. Tampa Bay making it for the first time is pretty cool. Get ready for the MLB postseason predictions in the next week.

I don't think anybody is going to miss Albert Pujols and the eight other shiitbags he's been dragging around all season. I'm not going to miss the Yankees and their aging collection of high-priced stiffs. They've had 13 straight years of the postseason, and they just don't have a very likable team.

The Mets may make it but won't last too long. Blowing leads against Washington's offense doesn't bode well for the bullpen going against playoff offenses. I have a friend who is legitimately suggesting that the bullpen STARTS the games, pitches three innings, and then you bring the starter in. His theory is that at least the Mets will know how many runs they need to make up, and will have 6 or 7 innings to do it. He's dead serious.

The Cubs are always exciting. They probably have the best overall roster in baseball. It will be exciting if they win, and they usually find exciting ways to lose also.

The Dodgers with ManRam will be worth watching, especially for the east coasters who don't get to see them much. Oh wait, MLB playoff games dont start until 8:45pm anyways, nevermind.

The Rays will be fun to watch in their first season with 70+ wins, much less PLAYOFFS! Boston attracts interest no matter what...I'll be interested in watching them lose to the Angels in round 1 (hopefully.)

I think the White Sox are the only real dud that would be in there if it all ended today, but it would probably be a good time to be in Chicago.

How about if they get their starters to all pitch 2 innings each night.

Friggin Mets. I guess my tickets to the 3d home game of the NLDS are not going to be worth much.

The Mets are in trouble if they don't get at least 7 solid innings out of their starters. It's certainly not over for them but they had beeter win their last few games otherwise Milwaukee is going to get the last spot.

In the American League, it's amazing that Tampa Bay will more than likely be hosting the first round of the playoffs against either Chicago or Minnesota. Biggest game of the season tonight for both of those teams in Minnesota.
