First off, props to the Ottawa Renegades for getting their first win of the season. I was wondering when they'd finally get one. They have had a brutal schedule to start the season and have battled but come up short up 'til this week. Very big win for Ottawa.

The divisional games that headlined this week turned out to be a bit one sided for the most part, which is shocking. Seattle used a stout run defense which kept Michael Turner to just 19 yards and they sacked Eli Manning 3 times and picked him off once to notch a very impressive win over Colorado. The Assassins used another strong performance from LaDainian Tomlinson to get a big win over division rival Pittsburgh to remain undefeated. Like Seattle, the Assassins were led by a strong defensive effort, limiting Fast Willie Parker to just 25 rushing yards while getting after Marc Bulger all day, coming up w/ 2 sacks and 2 picks. Meanwhile, the Phelons forced 3 Cincinnati turnovers and kept Thomas Jones to 65 rushing yards on 20 carries (I'm sensing a theme here) as they also stayed undefeated by beating the Curmudgeons. Great job to each of our winners.

The Hoosier Daddy? keep on going. They dominated Chicago, shutting them out w/ the aid of a 24 point blitz in the 2nd quarter. They kept up the pressure and made this one a rout. Way to go Indy. Also, the Isotopes continue their impressive season w/ a 3 touchdown win over division foe Green Bay. After watching the Water Boys get the first 10 points of the game, Springfield finished up w/ a 31-0 run to easily secure the victory.

Offensively, Jeff Garcia had a monster effort in Seattle's big win, while running backs Ronnie Brown and LaDainian Tomlinson led their teams' charge this week. Defensive stars were Ottawa DE Elvis Dumervil, Springfield LB Jon Beason, and Vegas LB David Thornton. Josh Cribbs was outstanding on special teams for Indy.

Injuries of note were: Cincy DB Chris McAlister, who is out for 7 weeks w/ a hip injury; Cleveland OT Orlando Pace, who will miss the remainder of the season w/ a back injury; and Ottawa G Chris Naole, out 7 weeks w/ a back injury.

Next week will feature another big test for the Assassins, now the top ranked team in the power rankings w/ the league's 2nd ranked offense and 6th ranked defense. They will hit the road to face the Louisiana Rage, a team that is vastly improved from last year (to say the least) and is currently the 3rd ranked team in the power rankings w/ the league's 3rd ranked offense and 11th ranked defense. It should be a great one, and perhaps a preview of TBD Super Bowl II? Well....wishful thinking there.

See ya next week.

Indy's happy to be back on the winning track but know to keep it up might prove difficult as Tempe could be a tough match up as shown by their impressive win a week ago against Springfield.
