this was on fanball:
Willis McGahee could miss the rest of the preseason, according to the Baltimore Sun. Furthermore, reporter Mike Preston says McGahee does not have many fans in the Baltimore front office because his work ethic is substandard, and it would not be a shock to see him get cut before the end of the regular season.
Our View
With the quality play of rookie Ray Rice, McGahee could be deemed expendable. This news has to alarm fantasy owners who invested a high pick in the former Miami back. It is absolutely imperative to handcuff Rice should you choose to draft McGahee.
I hope he gets cut, and sits and watches the Bills make a playoff run with Lynch rushing for 2,000 yards.
oh - and here is a note on Jason Peters. you suck.

We'll be drafting with their 3rd round pick long after Willis is gone. Anyone else wanna bitch about the Bills FO?
P.S...This should be a lesson for everyone who wants to sign or trade for every Tom, Dick, or Willis some other team gets rid of. There's usually a good reason why they are let go.

If he gets cut he won't be sitting on the sidelines watching the Bills. He'll be playing somewhere. The Bears or Seahawks could use him as well as probably 10 or 15 other teams in the league. He did gain more yards than M Lynch last year. So he's got a big mouth. Big deal. He's awesome.

Only because Marv & the rest of the guys in the room stuck with their draft board & didn't reach for a CB just because the fans wanted them to. A disgruntled RB for a starting QB & part of the Stroud trade-beautiful.
Marv wasn't GM for long, but his work will result in winning football for the next decade.

He was referring to why team's trade a guy in the first place. It doesn't matter that the season hasn't started. He is implying the the team trading the player knows something, which is why a guy like McGahee or, hopefully not, Stroud, doesn't pan out.

McGahee was AWESOME at Miami before he blew his knee out against Ohio St. in the championship game. He worked REAL hard to come back from that. The Bills drafted him and he worked even harder to get into the starting line-up. He took over for Henry and had a couple of solid performances in 2004 and 2005. After that, McGahee came unraveled. He started believing the hype surrounding himself, quit working as hard, started crying about the Buffalo nightlife, and started crying about his contract. He hasn't been the same player since. I remember many a TBD'er arguing Mcgahee's case in everything from his attitude to why he was "a top back in the NFL". What we are seeing now, in Baltimore, is the "Real Willis" again. He worked hard last year because it was his first season in Baltimore, but now he's got his big contract and is comfortable. About the knee problems? Don't expect them to go away any time soon. That knee was completely shredded against Ohio St. and as you get older those things begin to creep back up on you.

Which goes to show that a trade is about the player individually, not some "this or that always means" mantra. Some trades are good others are not. There is no magic formula other than solid professional scouting and a good football guy in charge of making the decision.
I took a cursory look at the Raven's message boards: they are way to wrapped up in their QB issues to even barely notice that Willis isn't playing in the pre-season. I feel sorry for them, they are finally going to get the QB settled only to find out that Willis can't pick up the blitz. There was one post that sounded very familiar: "... Willis doesn't know the system yet, and Rice has looked solid, so...". Keep waiting for him to "get it"...

Once they figure out QB, that poor guy is going to get hit, a lot. Last time I checked they didn't fix the holes in their O line either. So now they get to have the fun "is it the O line or is it Willis" debates. Those are always a good time.

Whoever that starting QB is, he's got a lot to be worried about.
And yes, this is already the biggest steal since Ditka gave away his whole draft class for Ricky Williams = another Dumbass RB.
In fact, it might be the biggest steal since Babe Ruth if Trent Edwards makes the pro-bowl a few times, and Stroud gives us 3 Solid years. Baltimore + Philly + Chicago = already suckers, and it can only get worse.
Once again, Thanks Marv!

I can only imagine you're a Ravens fan because I can't believe any right-minded Bills fans who followed McGahee's career here suggesting that he will become a great player. McGahee will never be a great player until he realizes that he actually has to work consistently at that goal. But he won't because he has all the mental capacity of a used mop. The only thing that will help him this year is when he's puking his guts out and getting an IV shoved in his arm after a 35-yard run, they can finally put a body in there (Rice) to cover him for the rest of the game so they don't have to change their gameplan because of McGahee's stubborn and moronic belief that he can condition himself.

Ray should be all over him about this. i hope rice turns out to be as good as we hope because he might have to start sooner than we think. "
