On my laptop, I need to shut down regardless if using the wireless or connecting directly. doesnt matter if using interet explorer or firefox. Anyone got any suggestions, its a pain in the neck. I cant put it in sleep or hibernate -- once I do this i need to resart the computer.

Sleep and hibernate have been notoriously buggy in Windows. I never trust it myself.

What version of windows? is it fully patched? have you tried to download the latest drivers for your wireless connection?

Just a shot in the dark, but you don't happen to have ZoneAlarm installed on your computer, do you? I just got an email talking about a Microsoft patch not playing nice with ZA.
