In space no one can hear
Explaining what happened when Jose Reyes put up a fight when asked to leave Tuesday's game with a hamstring injury,

manager Jerry Manuel joked:

"I told him next time he does that I'm going to get my blade out and cut him. I'm a gangster. You go gangster on me, I'm going to have to get you. You do that again, I'm going to cut you right on the field."

So, Mets fans, does hiring Manuel get a thumbsup.gif or thumbdown.gif .

Who would you like to see manage the team next year?

He did win the AL Central with the Sox back in 2000.

The Mariners did sweep them though!

Too early to tell, but having the ability to put whiney bitch Reyes in his place is probably the #1 priority for anyone who is going to manage the Mets, so if this was a shot across the bow, it's good to see.

Manuel is making friends, influencing people:

New York Mets interim manager Jerry Manuel referred to the team's fans as "fertilizer" for their booing of reliever Aaron Heilman, The New York Post reported Monday.

"It's very, very fertile ground for growth in Shea Stadium," Manuel said prior to the team's win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. "It's fertile ground for a team's growth and development. Sometimes, fertile ground has fertilizer.

But Manuel added, "Fertilizer is a good thing. It's a good thing. You get the greatest results - get the most beautiful plants — when you put it in that type of fertile soil. That's what we have the opportunity to do."

Heilman is Fcuking terrible! I boo him too while I am watching him on the television. Heilman is the reason they don't allow glass bottles at Shea because everyone would be slitting their wrists after they killed heilman.

It's fun to be a Mets fan again. Beltran is on fire and Delgado is hitting again! Good times.

And Pelfrey is realizing his promise. I have watched his last four starts and he keeps getting better and better. He and Lincecum could rule the NL for the forseeable future. Pelfrey's stuff is just hard and nasty.

I love that the Mets are awesome again after beating the potent offenses of the NL West. Once you get up 3-0 on anyone of those teams the game is essentially over, even if you bring in Billy Wagner.

Longest win streak in a while, and you have to win the games on your schedule, so good job by the Mets in that regard. Now let's see them do it against teams who actually use major league hitters. The fact that the Rockies and Dbacks played for the NL pennant last year is astounding. Those lineups are disgusting.

THanks for pissing on my parade. LOL!

However, the way Pelfrey pitched in his last four starts I am not sure anyone could have scored more than two runs against him. It was fun to watch the kid work.

Also, even though you are right that once you get 3-0 up on the ROckies or D-Backs it is likely over, the Mets have had a problem in scoring runs and getting their lineup working together.

One last positive, Heilmann didn't blow ass! At least he can pitch against bad teams.

They won 3 in a row against the Phillies.

You can't win your division if you don't take care of business against the bottom feeders. The Mets routinely underachieve against poor teams, so it's nice to see them put the hammer down on people.

yes, agreed. Can't blame them for winning...Like you said, you have to at least take 2/3 from the dregs.

I know the Mets have been throwing well, but I guess watching the Giants and Rockies collect 3 hits per game seemed to be more a reflection of those shiitty lineups rather than dominating pitching. But if I was a Mets fan I'd be pumped about the pitching too!

Last year the BoSox won the World Series, and won the East with a 96-66 record, 30 games over .500. Their record against just the Orioles, Rays, White Sox, and the NL in interleague was 44-18. So they basically played .500 ball against the majority of the AL, but took care of business against the bottom feeders and in interleague.

Like you said, you have to beat the poor teams. My comments were more a reflection of my friends who are Mets fans saying two weeks ago that the team is pathetic, Minaya must go, I don't see $120 million when I look at that lineup, etc. etc. They were the worst team ever...Now they have beaten some sorry squads and they are the best team ever. The ebb and flow of being a Mets fan!!!!

Fortunately, being a Bills fan has prepared me for the madness of rooting for the Mess. wallbash.gif
