If you're currently on firefox, check with the autoupdate, or go to mozilla.com

If you're an IE guy or gal (or opera or whatever), now would be a good time to make the switch. Apparently it's due to hit the download servers at 10am san francisco time (1pm buffalo time).

Thanks for the warning. Turned off auto-update until I know all the plugins I consider vital are included or are available after update and that it does not clean out saved passwords like I have heard it does.

no problem. i'll let you know how the update goes. I'm sure there's someone here who has been using the beta and rc builds, but i'm not htat person. I'm excited for the update though. any time a major software update becomes available, i tweak out.

Thanks for the heads-up, Corp.

I've done as G. Host mentioned - turned off auto update. Never had a FF update problem, though.

I hate the damned "awesome" bar, so much that I'm considering switching browsers.

Woo, I have now switched to Opera.
Corp000085
well, that was a seamless upgrade. the only thing that it found in error was my ietab add on, which it upgraded automatically to the one made for FF3.

After using various FF3 betas and release candidates for the past couple months, I'm loving Opera 9.5! I'd highly suggest checking it out. smile.gif

I updated to FF3 and like it. I'm just a "casual" browser though. I don't really get into all the techno aspects of it. What's Opera? blink.gif I have Safari too that I use because I've had a lot of problems with IE here in Japan, especially with email.

Wow, a Google search is bringing up quite a few pissed-off people who hate this "awesome bar."

I don't have a problem with it. It's just change. If people really hate it, they can disable it.

Thats the thing, there is no way to return to the old address autocomplete.

I thought there was a way to make the change in the config? Does that just disable everything?

If so, my guess is there will be an add on very quickly that fixes it.

I agree, as a longtime Opera user, Opera 9.5 is pretty sweet (even if they did release it a tad early).

I quit using Opera way back in the day, but its improved a ton. I hated version 7.

I installed it yesterday, after my wife returned from a business trip. While she was away, I didn't want to make a broswer change.

My settings and bookmarks remained as they were.

So, no problems. That awesome bar thing doesn't affect me - I don't like anything tracking my browsing history. Same with passwords...I won't keep them on my PC.

It's fast but also crashalicious. MFer crashes at least 8x per day.

Did you upgrade an old profile? If so, something might have gone wrong in the upgrade process.

Yes but it's a common problem with Firefox 3 and gmail. Lots of users complaining.

Odd, never had any problems in any of the RCs (and I have gmail open 24/7).

Oh well, Opera works fine. smile.gif

Hmm, I haven't had that either. Is it happening just when you open gmail, or any time its open?

I also have better gmail installed.
