How dynamic would an "El Series" be?

I was talking to a co-worker and we agreed... I think you wouldn't see anything else like it... The Bay Area: Ho-hum, both teams transplants. I-70, snore... Royals and Cards? Subway? They are all a melding there, that would be like Cubs v. Cubs, get real.

Now Sox-Cubs... Only thing I could describe it as would be Yanks-BoSox matchup with a 10 mile buffer zone and no CT and RI to diffuse the carnage!

Would it be something! Class warfare at its finest (with some crossover, very little though)...

Not trying to jinx it... How sweet it would be with the Sox whooping the Cubs!

After just living in Chicago for the past year, I saw firsthand some crazy animosity- I had no idea one side even really gave a crap about the other. I would love to see it, and I think it would draw in a lot of attention around the country, especially considering the Cubs' WS cold streak. I don't think the White Sox have the pitching, though, to go through the Angels, but if they don't have to face LAA come September, they could do it- I think they'll handle their division pretty easily. The Cubs will make the playoffs for sure, and I do think they are the best team in the NL, but I'm having trouble convincing myself they'll make it to the WS. If they can pick up Gil Meche or CC Sabathia, I'd feel better about it (especially with CC), but I'm going to reserve that call. Needless to say, it's actually a possibility for the first time that I can remember, and I'd definitely be pumped. I did live in Wrigleyville, however, so go Cubs!

You get a certain amount of "bleed over"... But, the battle lines are clear and deep and always have been... IMO, very much a class issue.

Socio-economically, just from living here for about 20 years... The disparity between the North Side and the South Side is huge... I know that isn't the deciding factor on who roots for who... But, it is there.

Class warefare, alive and well in Chicago!

How dynamic? How about "not very". You're about 4 years too late on this. As a matter of fact, you know what I think.......huh?.....wha?........ blush.gif OHHHHHHHHH....the WHITE Sox??!?!?!?!

Geez.......it never occurred to me. GO SOX!! thumbsup.gif

Red Sox or White Sox vs the Cubs'd have been incredible series before both Sox teams finally won the Series... now if it happens some drama will be missed...
Anyway i really think at the end the NL champ will be the Phillies...

Well, I know there is a 0% chance it will be the Cubs.

Like anyone can really expect a team to lose TWO of the best pitchers in the game and still win it all.

There is nothing like it in baseball... Cubs and White Sox predate everything in baseball... Two team ball in one city... The roots of the National League (Cubs, 1876) and American League Sox (1901)... It is the only TRUE link to the past left in baseball between the two leagues and bygone bad blood.

In matter of fact the original name of the Cubs was the White Stockings back in 1870 and then 1876 with the National League...

...........and then the Rays just swept the best team in Baseball laugh.gif

Ultimately it's a Cubs town, not even close to being even in the hearts and minds of Chicagoland.

1. Bears
2. Cubs
3. Blackhawks
4. Sox

Of course it would be fun though.

I wouldn't say that... I would say it is divided... The northside and Cubs always get the bias in the media though, if that is what you mean by a "Cubs Town."

No other place is it a clear socio-ecomomic issue/bias.

Where in Chicago(Land) do you live?

Cubs-White Sox World Series would be awesome.

Although at this point I think we're just playing out the rest of the season to see which AL team is going to beat the Cubs in 5 games for the championship come October.
