I bought a lap top for my daugher the christmas before last and during that time the hard drive has failed either 3 or 4 times and the optical drive once......
The hard drive has gone out again......and now the Geek Squad that works at the store is disputing how many times the computer has broken and wants to FIX IT AGAIN (I bought their extended warranty)
Every time they fix the thing it takes a month to fix.....I just want them to give me a new computer I am tired this.

Thank you for the reminder of why I need to make sure I buy a Dell when I buy my next computer. My hard drive got fried several years ago on my Dell desk top, and they had a guy out to my house the next day with a brand new one. I've heard a few horror stories about Best Buy's warranty work

And to make matters worse there is always something I shoudl have done on this that I did not do. I called corporate about it and they say I only have 2 legit repairs on the computer and this will make the 3rd...after THIS one they will consider it a lemon.
I KNOW there have been at least one more repair on it but I dont have the receipt (Best Buy is supposed to keep all this information in their database)
Im screwed.

My former father-in-law had a similar issue with his BB-bought computer...I feel for ya, bro
If they continue to dick you around, I usually advocate contacting your state attorney general. I've always had good results going that route. One time they forced Chrysler to send me a $3k check.

I've never had any direct problems with Best Buy or Geek Squad.
My computer illiterate parents however............
Have 2 computers, a desktop upstairs and a laptop downstairs. Printer is hooked up to the desktop. But they wanted to print something from the laptop they bought from BB. Oh, but if you want to print over a network you'll need a print server and blah blah blah. I don't remember how much they said it would cost, but it was probably comparable to the number of seconds it took me to walk upstairs, share the upstairs printer, walk downstairs, map the upstairs printer, set it as default, print a test page, walk back upstairs to pick up the test page, and walk back downstairs with the page, and tell them the upstairs computer and printer have to be on for them to print
