I had one from Cingular. A little less than a year ago it broke. I didn't drop it or anything, it just stopped working. So since it was only a few month old I had to send it back to the company and they sent me a new one (or so I thought). Now it's been about another 4 months and the one the sent me (refurbished, not new) has broken too. I had heard of problems with the RAZR after I bought it of course but this is two in less than a year now. wallbash.gif It's my sons phone and now I have to wait for yet another, probably refurbished one, to be sent to me. I hate that they lock you in with those 2 year contracts. dry.gif

Everyone I know who owns one has had no issues, including my wife and me (I don't have mine anymore).

I really didn't start having problems with mine until I got a new job in a cabinet shop. Lots of sawdust flying around = lots of sawdust under the screen, speakers getting clogged, lenses getting scratched, ect. The phone completely died when I had it in my pocket at the LSU vs Fresno St. football game when there was a massive downpour of rain.
I am now using a cheap phone my wife had before she upgraded. It works 10x better and much more durable than my razr was, and the razr was worth about $300 more dollars.
That was the last time I ever buy a phone that doesn't fit into my everyday use.

I upgraded to a RAZR last Friday with Verizon and have had no issues yet.

you should upload some sabres skins onto the main screen and the outside screen. there's templates out there and a program to upload from your PC via usb.

Well I have to give Cingular some credit. This was the second RAZR I had and my warranty was out. They waived that and Fed Ex'd me another one that I got in 3 days. Now I only hope that this one doesn't break too. If it does then I have to just buy a new phone. I can't believe the difference in price for just buying one and with a 2 year contract. What a ripoff.... wallbash.gif

Now you know why Moto is spinning off that division - their handsets have become problematic and they haven't had a "hit" since RAZR.

If you have to get a new phone, do yourself a favor and get an unlocked GSM phone. You can buy one just about anywhere on the web. Carriers like AT&T hate them because they want to trap you, but in Europe they're usually sold unlocked so you can move your SIM around easily. With a locked phone your choice is limited whereas with unlocked there is a broad array. You'll just need to pay attention to the network/bands. If your primarily use the thing for voice only, you would be good with quad-band EDGE (2.5G) 850/900/1800/1900 or if you like the idea of broadband or want to do web browsing etc then look for tri-band HSDPA (3G) which will always fall back to quad-band EDGE when you're in a market where AT&T hasn't rolled out 3G yet.

The only "gotcha" is that if you need to call customer technical support, once they determine that the network is not causing your problem, they're not going to support the phone. You'll then have to call the manufacturer to troubleshoot. However unless you are a business customer (ie your company has a contract with AT&T) you don't have access to the super-techies who can troubleshoot a device anyway.

Well, I have a Moto L6, my wife and daughter both have RAZR V3s. My daughter is on her third phone in 1.5 years and she does take care of things pretty good. Problems were sticky keys, bad crackle in conversations etc. My wife has had occasional problems keys freezing up, phone randomly switching itself off and on (Lawnmower man ?). My L6 has been rock solid. I have dropped it 8-10 times with a couple of times on hard surfaces and it just keeps working. My only gripe is slightly poor signal strength possibly due to the metallic casing.
Not all Moto products are bad. I used to work in a refinery before with Moto radios and those things were built like tanks. That perception extended with my L6 but has been dented due to the RAZRs.

Yes they made some nice mil-spec rugged phones for Sprint as well.

I've had one for about a year now with no problems. I've dropped it a few times too.

My only real issue with it is that I use Verizon and they don't let you use the USB port for anything other than charging the phone. Can't download pictures you take with the camera. They don't even let you upload your own ringtones, they make you buy them using the phone. Ridiculous.

Fortunately, there are a few good hacker sites out there, and I had a great time hacking the thing to get the USB port working. Cha-ching.
