These guys are in trouble. LaRussa's staggering around the dugout when he's not falling asleep at the wheel after a few glasses of old Granddad, they can't put up more than a run against the Mets' suspect pitching, and there are only 161 games left for them to make up ground in the standings. Sorry, guys, I don't see a repeat this year.

Suspect starting pitcher, Tom Glavine, counted on to lead the Mets' rotation, allowed one run and six hits in six innings. He only has 291 wins in his suspect career. I wonder if the suspect Mets can hold on. laugh.gif

Where's BF when you need him. biggrin.gif

Awww, c'mon, just a little opening day razzing. I'm prepared to take it when the Jays finish in second place but out of the playoffs again. tongue.gif

Glavine looked good, though he is old and admits his style has changed considerably in order for him to stay in the game. wink.gif I was thinking more of the rook in the bullpen who loaded the bases. Of course, Heilman was counted on to get 'em out.

I think in 2005 the Cards learned a good lesson. They dominated baseball for the entire season and were caught by surprise at the end even though they were clearly the better team. Last year they paced themselves much better and showed their dominance in the playoffs where it belongs. My bet is that the lesson will carry them through this year too.

Do you really see them having a hard time making the playoffs?

Now they aren't. Now it's half the league.
