I sent you the picks I wanted because I won't be here for a good part of the draft. Please send my picks to the other people in charge.

UPDATE!

I just want to say I will be here for my FIRST PICK before I leave for the visit. I'll try and make it around 11am but I won't mind if "runthedamnball" makes my #1 pick if he wants to get things moving. He knows what I wanted with the #1 pick.

Why not just make it at 9am?
That would speed everything up by 2 hrs. thumbsup.gif

Or why not make it at 3:08 am.....it's the first pick after all. wink.gif

Shocker. I wanted Albert Puljos instead.

HERE WE GO!

LSI, drafting Pujols #1? You're nuts. The kid's got makeup issues written all over him. Good luck with THAT! tongue.gif
Stl Bills
Well good thing for me, I thought LSI was definetley taking Johan and I almost traded Macon Whoopie my whole draft to slide into the #2 spot. Good thing that didn't happen.
RuntheDamnBall
KD makes the smart choice and takes Howard, probably would have been my #1 if I had it. Paves the way for slothrop to take Reyes like everyone knows he will wink.gif

Edit: unless Stl Bills takes him. Another good pick.
KD in CT
I love Santana...would have taken him if available but sure can't complain about Howard....even if I'll be rooting against him at Shea this year!

Oneonta Buffalo Fan
Pujols was a better pick than Santana for me. It was a coin flip really.

NOW I GOT TO WAIT A WHILE! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

It'll probably be tomorrow.

Last year I was basically unemployed during the draft, but I can already see this is going to cause some productivity problems this year. ph34r.gif

Question: Should we have another thread just posting the results of the draft...or is there another way this will be handled?

How many days does the draft usually take? Also- how much time do people usually take between picks?

I'm itching to make my first pick. (6th)

4 hour limit and most people aren't on so it will take days. Not to mention it's a 21 round draft. I might not pick again for 3-4 days. Which is nice because I'm busy these next 2 days.

You'd be surprised. Sometimes it just blazes right by and sometimes it doesn't. If people PM me picks, which I encourage -- all the faster.

LSI, I'm sure you're chomping at the bit. Remember you'll have two consecutive picks, two, which is a pretty nice position to be in (not to mention you got Pujols) biggrin.gif

Yeah, last year we hit some major speedbumps but it did go way faster when people PM'd picks to either RDB, Gantrules or myself. Since gant is MIA, feel free to PM me picks as well. It really does make things go by way faster.

Well I'll be around till 4pm EST before I have to leave. Won't be back till sometime Wed afternoon around 2pm. Then I have to leave again later that night to film our sectional basketball game. Won't be back till 11pm. Then I'm free the next 4 days. thumbsup.gif

It took about 2 weeks last year IIRC. The problem is there are frequent delays. If some is on the clock for half the day (when everyone is around) it tends to really slow it down. But sometimes it'll pick up and we'll whip right through so people need to check in frequently.

Come on Ramius....flood tubes 3 and 4 and make a pick! tongue.gif

Personally, I don't have a problem with the long delays. What's the big deal? It is a month + until opening day anyway.

I don't either really...but I just get pumped for my next pick. I wish it moved 3 times faster and we had a 60 round draft.

Well, it was either him or Arod or Beltran.
Against my better judgement orI thought it would be more fun to root for Soriano!
Go Cubs! and Go Cubbies!!
Ramius
i wasnt sold on any overpaid(a-rod), overrated(soriano) guys at #5. I wanted reyes/pujols/howard/santana, but they were all gone by my pick.

Usually I wouldn't have gone with a guy who has signed such a big contract that he is expected to live up to like Soriano.

The only thing is he doesn't have to carry the load or be a savior.

He just has to fit in with Lee and Ramirez. That's a potent threesome.

Soriano will have better protection in the lineup, he will be knocked in more and he will be hitting in a "friendlier" park this year.

How many true power/speed threats are there anyways? He is one of them!

I have a player I want with my second pick- but actually think I'll have to move up a bit to get him.

Without knowing the other owners in the leagues preferences it's hard to judge. wallbash.gif

No trading happened in last year's draft. I'm not averse to it as long as all parties agree and the terms are posted in the draft thread. Do it carefully, though.

Also, the results thread is pinned. Only mods can pin a topic. I've petitioned SDS to assume mod duties for the forum in gantrules' stead, particularly for fantasy concerns but also for general ones -- I wanted to be able to pin and post alerts as necessary. If anyone has any concerns about that I'm happy to hash it out. In the meantime I'll do all I can to be a good moderator. Gimme a shout if you need anything.

I can't stay around any longer. I have a college visit to go to. I won't be back till around 2 pm tomorrow and if it's my turn to pick Runthedamnball don't pick for me unless I'm near the end of my 4 hours, please.

At this rate of speed the draft is doing, I don't have to worry about picking on time. I probably won't be picking a gain until Thursday or Friday. laugh.gif
