We're going to try to see if we can start a sim league here on TBD. For this, we'll need 20-24 volunteers. There's another thread that explains what is involved in a sim league, but basically, it's like fantasy football, but you're responsible for an entire team instead of just skill players. To start, it will take a bit of time to get going (the draft to stock the teams w/ players is a bit lengthy), but once things are set up, it can be a lot of fun. I'm in 2 other sim leagues now, and even though one team has won just 6 games in 2 seasons and the other team finished their first year w/ only 2 wins, I'm still having a lot of fun just being in the league.

So, the challenge for us will be to see if we can find 20-24 dedicated "owners" who will stay w/ this the entire time. It's no fun having a team quit during the season, or even before the season starts.

We will use the Action! PC software to sim the games. I have the last 2 seasons, and once the new player rankings are released (around March/April), I'll have the updated disc as well.

I'm game if we are doing the simulation. Not sure if i have the time for a head to head league.

We'll be doing the sim. That way, only one person (me) will have to agonize over getting everything set up each week. All you'd have to do is send your lineups to me once, then note any changes you'd like to make as they come up (injuries, change of schemes, etc.).

I have a suggestion - you might want to post this over on the main forum for a day or two, as a lot of people don't check the FF board (especially during the offseason of FF!)

Yeah, I would absolutley be interested. I love sim games, such as Out of the Park Baseball, and some of the other sim games. Not familiar with this actionPC software, but i'll look into it, and certainally I would take a team. Is software purchase required?

A website would be a nice idea. We'll see. For the time being, we'll probably run everything out of this forum, which includes the drafts (free agent draft to stock teams and rookie draft, to be held after NFL draft).

Reading about the ActionPC software has given some mixed reviews. Not sure about the software, but I'll give it a shot. I just found out that the new Front Office Football 2007 is available. The last version was 2004 and was superb. The two drawbacks are 1) the graphis leave a TON to be desired and 2) It would really be preferable if everyone owned the game.

#1 doesnt matter to me because of the depth of the FOF program. #2 could be difficult getting 30 people to pony up the 40 bucks for the game, though its probably not necessary that everyone own.

Like I said, I'll give ActionPC a try, but i think a TBD FOF2007 league would be the better way to go. IMO I invision something like this: Get a webpage (perhaps SDS can cough up some space). Keeping it a TBD league cures the issue that most of these online leagues have. Eventually a commisioner running the league gets bored and quits. Sometimes thats 3 months after it starts, sometimes its 5 years, but it happens. Being on TBD, I can imagine someone else stepping up, since we are all here for another reason anyway. We may need to open it up to outside people to reach the initial 30 teams, but all we need to do is stress that this is a TBD league, which is operated by us, and TBD members get preference in joining the league based on the length of time they have been TBD memebers (or number of posts etc..).

This could be a great plan, and we have talked about it in the past...we just got to get enough people together, or anyone to really push the creation of the league. Lets actually do it this time!

It was one of the best pc football games of all time given the technology at the time. I played it since '98.

Other than getting committments from all the "owners" and selecting venues for their teams (stadiums the teams will play in), nothing will be done until the new player rankings come out, which should be around the middle of March. After that, we'll schedule the stocking draft, which is VERY time consuming (around 50-55 rounds). Once the stocking draft is done, we'll do the rookie draft, which will take place probably 1-2 weeks after the NFL draft.
