Starting a new thread for the new year. So, where are you at, where do you want to be by the start of the season in Sept, and where do you want to be overall? How will you do it?

I'll go first...

Starting : 224
Goal by Sept : Under 200
Overall Goal : 180-185

Will do a combination of low carb, cutting out desserts/snacks, smaller portions, and more water. Exercise is a problem being on the road 200+ days a year, to get into a routine.

Well, I gained 10 over the past two months.

So I'm starting at 230
Goal by July: 180

Here's the plan: continue the yoga, and add in bike pedals that I purchased for under my desk.

I'm going to brute-force my way to weight loss.

I managed to lose 25.75#'s last year.

No exercise- no dieting but I never took seconds and only ate half the food you get dining out (the rest was lunch or supper the next day). I guess it's just portion control because I have my chocolate everyday.

Down 3lbs this week...

Current : 221

My goal? - betweeen 215-225 lbs

What I'm doing:

1. No eating after 6pm (unless work or other circumstances dictate and even then, only dinner)

2. No fast food

3. No ice cream, chips or candy

4. Pretty much eat a regular breakfast, lunch and dinner with a snack mixed in. My work is my exercise but in the spring I'll be taking my dog on longer walks.

Figured I'd join in...

Started at 230... according to most charts I should be around 205, which would be fine with me.

I quit smoking new years day and have managed to lose 5 pounds. I just cut down on portions. I'm probably gonna introduce a tiny bit of exercise once the weather warms up.

Meant to post this on Sunday...

No exercise + fast food = no change (thankfully)

I heard that most people gain 1 to 1.5 pounds per day on a cruise. Since I only gained 5, I think I did really well....

I've dropped 7 pounds so far this year by just eating better. Down to 208 as of 2/25/07!

I think the biggest difference for me is that I've chosen to drink a LOT less alcohol. I had one drink on Friday and one drink on Saturday and that was it. I'm still eating more fast food than I should, but its hard with my schedule to not do that. However, I am making MUCH smarter choices (salads instead of fries, chicken instead of beef, etc).

My exercising hasn't been going as planned - I got sick with a cold (still coughing from it) and had to stop exercising. Once thats done, its back to working out!

Its really amazing when you think about it how demanding it is to exercise regularly and if anything is wrong with you it makes it ten times more difficult. Then think about pro athletes and what they go through playing hurt/sick etc.....

Just started March 1st. I weighed 276 to start and lost 1lb the first week...I joined my wife in going to TOPS and really believe a support group can help. Second weigh-in is tonight so here's hopin'......

I plan to walk at least 5 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes at a time (so far I have done it every day in March) and to dramatically change my eating patterns

Chumley's Rest suggests: biggrin.gif

Get one of those inexpensive pedometers, and keep a record of the # of steps per day. My wife does that, to good effect.

Down to 233, so a loss of 5 pounds so far. Not as quick as I'd like, but at least headed in the right direction.

Keeping a journal is helping.
elwooddowd
Only lost 1 3/4 for the last two weeks but I can certainly live with that....The really good part is that my BP was down to 118/76...
Overall I've lost 9 3/4 lbs and my BP has dropped like a stone in just 6 weeks of exercise and diet modification... Of course this would be more impressive if I can still say this after a year has gone past..........

Good going on the BP. Diet certainly matters...processed sugar ingestion skyrockets triglycerides.
