I just noticed that we can add somebody as a "friend." Not sure if that option was there before or not but I was just wondering, after you add someone as a friend are they listed somewhere? Like a friends list? Then you have a handy place to see if your friends are online or not. Just wondering. smile.gif

Well then why even have a friends option? tongue.gif

They redesigned the profile page to be more myspacey, but I opted to retain the old look because it was just too childish for me. I deleted the "My Friends" link across the top, but there are still some other links around.

Do you like this "Friends" option?

I haven't looked at it, but if the other person has to agree to be a "friend", then it's okay with me. But if they don't have to agree to be added to your list, then I can see in some future thread and/or posts, people bragging that they have more "friends" than other posters, or are listed on more peoples friends list than others.

Yeah, I can see that possibly happening. I'd prefer the agreeing to be a "friend" first too.

Along the same lines.... interesting. The old skin had a "buddy" list for PMs, almost like having an address book function. But that list has been imported into a PM block list in this version?

Jack, you're on it. Wanna try sending me a PM so I can see if it gets through? Thanks...

good catch. My list has this under the PM Block for those who were under my quick contacts:

[ Edit ] :: [ Delete ] ( Message Allow )

I think the message allow means they are not blocked. I'm guessing they wanted users to have more control over their friends list and not assume a quick contact was a "friend".

as a a followup - I think your buddy list WAS supposed to convert to your firends list. There are reports that they also got added to the block list, but I think they aren't reeally blocked as I said before.

Jack's PM got through OK, so I think you're right - same list, just called something different. And the "message allow" by each name is non-clickable, so they should already be allowed.

Just checking to make sure, and to save anybody else the confusion...

there is a conversion tool for this that has a bug in it. When the patch comes out, I'll convert the old contacts into "friends".
