Joe In Macungie
Summer's always tough for my fitness program. Picnics, parties, vacations make it hard to stick to a fitness and nutrition program. Fortunately, I did fairly well and only put on 4 pounds over the summer. Now it's back to the program. My first "official" weigh-in saw me at 227, or 33 pounds down from my original.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm alright. I hurt my back boxing last week and am recovering from it and hope to start training again as soon as i feel better.

I don't need the motivation. ph34r.gif of keeling over at age 40 is motivation enough.

I was surprised too to injure my back from boxing but a back specialist i went to see told me that it's a result of lack of flexibility. Told me that I have to spend more time stretching and that's what I've been doing but I haven't trained since I got hurt.

Seriously speaking, yoga is great for increasing flexibility, which is just as important as being strong, fit, and having good cardio.

Don't laugh....I've been in dart leagues and have seen it happen. Usually it is a result of not properly lubricating your system with beer prior to the match.

I was being serious. I do that crap about 5 days a week. It's embarrassing at this point how inflexible I am. But it's working. Slowly but surely.

First thing I'm doing when I get my new job and move to a new city is find a yoga class. Sure, it'll be good for me but mainly I think that'd be an awesome way to meet girls.

Once or twice a week I used to see girls walking around the University of Texas campus with yoga mats and they were just about the hottest women ever.

Go read about the physiological benefits of yoga. It's more than just about flexibility.
