That guy had some nasty stuff back in the day. And he's only 28! But it sure has been difficult watching him battle injuries. Things looked so bright for him in those early years. Did the Cubs ride him too hard?

Jun 21 Despite being eligible to come off the disabled list on Thursday, Wood says he won't be able to pitch right away and may be out for the rest of the season. The Cubs right-hander experienced fatigue near the end of a 70-pitch simulated game on Tuesday and said Wednesday he doesn't know when he'll be back.
Wood has made four starts following shoulder surgery last August and doctors have said his shoulder is structurally fine, but he still experiences discomfort and fatigue each time he throws. Chicago had hoped to have him in the rotation by this weekend, but it seems it'll be lucky to get him back at all. The 28-year-old Wood was 1-2 with a 4.12 ERA in his four starts this season.

Boo fuggin hoo! I love it! Not nessecarily the fact that he's been hurt but Wood and Prior are always on the disabled list, always. I have some buddies who are Cubs fans and all they can ever say is...."Just wait until Wood and Prior come back then we'll see". Is that supposed to scare a Cardinal fan? I've been waiting for 3 years for those guys to come back only for them to throw 10 innings and be back on the DL. I hope he goes to another team and does well but my hatred for the CHUBS won't let me care if he's on the DL as long as he's in Chicago.

$13.5 million club option on him for next season. I can't see how there's any way the Cubs pick that up.

I think they did. Kerry Wood as a set up man or even a closer might be the best thing for his career. I'm not sure he can start anymore. Maybe he can but unfortunately for him he keeps getting hurt.

If the Cubs release him, how much you want to bet that the Yankees give him 5 years $55 million.
