My avatar seems to have disappeared. Any idea why this happened?

Remove the avatar. Then clear your browser's cache. Then load the avatar. There is something like a 15kb maximum size for avatars (the site s/w will scale back a bit above that, though). JPG graphic format are more succesful that GIF format ones, as a rule.

And IIRC, there is a minimum number of posts you have to make before you can post an avatar...500 or so?...not sure; that might have changed. Maybe that's for the profile - the text underneath an avatar.
