I have been a Bills fan since 1983 since the days of Kelly and Thomas and Reed and Marv Levy. I keep imagining a winning season every year, just hoping that the critics are wrong.
Since the days of Levy and the K-Gun we have only had one QB that won (Flutie), we have had coaches that just didnt care (Phillips), coaches that just didnt have a clue (Williams) and coaches that were hired that just werent ready for it (Mularkey).
I believe Mularkey was hired ahead of all the other capable candidates because of ties in Pittsburgh, and the rest of the staff followed suit. Now that they are out of the picture, its time to move on, not based on who you are cozy with, not based on who you worked with before, but who has (hate to say it) THE BEST CREDENTIALS!
Face it, if any of you are managers out there, do you want to hire the guy that was showing up for the interview in cutoff jean shorts, t-shirt, and fell asleep at the wheel, or the guy that "Knocked your socks off"? CMON! WHY IS THERE SUCH A DELAY????
Marv Levy likes Jauron (lets face it) Marv is already getting power hungry. I like Marv, but damn, he doesnt know anything about being a GM!!!! HES A FIGUREHEAD!!!!!! We all like grandpa and grandma, but they couldnt do it all by themselves either.
Mike Sherman, on the other hand, has a proven winning record, has a background as a GM, and really wanted Losman when the draft took place a few years back before Buffalo stole him away. Things to take from this rant are WINNING RECORD, and PROVEN.
Go ahead, take another Mike Mularkey, another Greg Williams, hell maybe another WADE PHILLIPS, but dont expect anything but another 3 - 4 LOSING seasons. Ill be there watching every game, as we lose lose lose.... WE wont like it, but its like a car crash and WE are like the passerby...
I want a HEAD COACH in here, not another ASSISTANT.
now im already stressed...
