Full Version: Posts removed?! Moderators?

Two of my posts from this evening have apparently been removed from this board.

One of the posts quipped that a fellow poster with inside info was the Bills owner, the other was a nostalgic call for a decades old Channel 7 news team. A quick check of posts from the last couple days revealed that NOTHING in my posts was any more inappropriate or objectionable than any others.

There was no excessive (if any, from what I can recall) profanity in either post, nor did they contain any inappropriate content.

Considering some of the posts that I have seen on this board where people rip into each other, or the Bills management, or players, or whatever, it just seems odd that my contributions would have been censored in this way.

Moderators, please shed a little light on this. Thanks.

You should consider sending this question in a PM or asking it on the customer service forum -Which I imagine is where this thread will end up in 5...4...3...2...

I posted something that was a satire and it got locked out from responses. It wasn't vulgar or mean nature, it was meant to break the monotony of waiting for a HC to be named. Some of these posts are just flat out nasty to each other but the moderators choose to keep them. I don't understand it myself.

As mentioned several times tonight, too many people making the same jokes over and over become tiresome and a waste of board space. We have had countless "insider" jokes, phoney news story jokes, etc... and it just has to stop as it is annoying the crap out of everybody because it is no longer funny - if it ever was in the 1st place.

I'm not sure what posts you're referring to but I did whack two threads tonight. If your post was buried in one of those threads then it was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Personally I don't have time to read through every line that gets written. Often when we get PM's I'll take a few minutes to look over the offending thread. If it is in fact over the top or appears to be nothing more than a button pusher then I'll delete the entire thing.

I'm sorry if any epiphany's get wasted in the deletion but consider them casualties of war.

Bingo. Thank you.

Ahem.

Moderator dudes: it is the off-season, at least for the Bills, no? Not only that but it has been a very tumultuous off-season. Some fans take what happens to their teams to heart around here. The chaos and confusion gets their anxiety revved up. They may vent a bit of that by making a few jokes and kidding around with other like minded fans.

Where is the harm in any of that? Is this board not supposed to be fun and entertaining?

I don't see how you justify keeping 40 threads that are light-hearted banter on the board and then turn around and waste 5 or 6 threads of the exact same nature because someone with a bunch in is ultra-tight shorts sent you a PM about being bored. What's the real rationalization? Certain posters are considered "more cool" so if they start a dozen threads about coaching changes, it's all good, but if somebody else starts one then delete the entire thing?

I know moderating is not an easy job. I was one of the original moderators of this board. But, I must say that deleting entire threads simply because someone, probably not even a moderator, deems the thread is "boring" comes across as, at best, purely random enforcement of bogo-rules, at worst, spiteful censorship.
