In a local town the police raided a steak house 9:00 last night, sealed all the doors then gave everyone at the bar a breathalyzer. How the !@#$ can they get away with that? If I was sitting at the bar and asked me to take a breathalyzer I would of told them to go !@#$ themselves and if they had a problem with that they could call my lawyer(my sister). Seriously what the hell is going on with our country? !@#$ the government! !@#$ democrats! !@#$ republicans! !@#$ you big brother! The land of the free- yeah right. Now that I said "!@#$ the government" I am sure they will waste thousands of tax dollars tracking me. !@#$ the patriot act!

Some words from the late great Bill Hicks-

The world is like a ride at an amusement park. It goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey – don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride ..." And we ... kill those people. Ha ha, "Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. Jesus murdered; Martin Luther King murdered; Malcolm X murdered; Gandhi murdered; John Lennon murdered; Reagan ... wounded. But it doesn't matter because: It's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love.

The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. Thank you very much, you've been great.

Sound effect of three shots, Hicks pretends to fall down dead, lights go down.

CT is a puritan state that has assinine liquor laws. You cant buy beer after 8 or on Sundays. You cant have two drinks in front of you at the same time-ie a shot and beer. The police were looking for someone over the limit so they could get the bar and bartender in trouble for serving an intoxicated person. Giving everyone at the bar a breathalyzer? Thats bull sh-- and unconstitutional!

That is a CT law. Most bars serve you two drinks anyways but police sometimes enforce it. Next time you are at the casino try and order a snifter of booze and a beer. There have been a few times a bar would not give me two drinks. Today I stopped by a local place, ordered a Grand Marnier and Heinken and I had to keep one drink off the bar and switch. My friends were bartending and said the liquor commission has been busting balls all over the shore and to make sure I didnt have two drinks in front of me. What a bunch of bull sh--. I hate this state!

Dude, could you find a link for this story? Because it sounds insane. It sounds like something the Thai police used to do when I lived in Thailand. They'd bust into a night club lock the place up tight as a drum and give everyone drug tests. A buddy of mine was stuck in one of those raids and didn't get out until 9am the next morning and about $50 poorer because he had to pay a "Fine" (bribe) because he didn't have his passport on him at the time.

Sobriety Tests Are Becoming Part of the School Day
New York Times, NY, March 3, 2005
For years, schools across the country have deployed breath analyzers at proms, pep rallies and other after-school events to catch students who arrived drunk or smuggled in alcohol.
After some resistance and fevered debate, student advocates and even lawyers gradually came to accept that schools were within their rights to use every means to ensure that students were not toting six-packs and liquor bottles to after-school, night and weekend events.
Quietly though, a few districts around the country, from Indiana to Connecticut to Long Island, have begun to integrate breath-testing devices into the regular school day, a move that adds a new wrinkle to the ongoing struggle between students' privacy rights and a school's duty to limit drug and alcohol abuse.
Schools say they need to ensure that no students are drinking in class. Civil rights lawyers worry that high school students pulled out of class and forced to take a breath-alcohol test could be unfairly stigmatized for goofy or strange behavior.

What happened to the Bar goers is just the next logical step from testing students. You should know by now that the government sees us as little mindless children that need to be protected from ourselves. See the seat belt laws, smoking laws ect...

"Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. "

Has anyone managed to actually find a link that supports the very premise of this rant?

I mean, seriously. You're upset with your country because something happened that may not have happened?

Frankly, I'm pretty upset that the little Eddie Munster-looking batboy on the front of the tabloids hasn't been offered free surgery. What kind of a people are we if we can't help the batpeople lead good and normal lives by helping them look just like us so they can get jobs, and contribute to the advancement of our society.

Here...I've even provided a link. Batboy LIVES! Which is more than I can say for a bunch of people who were locked up in a bar and given breathalyzer tests.

I am in the restauraunt business and know just about everyone in restauraunts on the shore. I know firsthand about this incident from friends that work at the restauraunt. The USA is a police state IMO. In Europe you hardly see any policemen anywhere yet there is little crime. Here it is a crime to drink a beer in public, for a girl to go topless, to smoke marijuana which grows naturally, to not wear your seat belt, to curse on the radio, etc. There are way too many laws in this country and many are very silly. More laws just give police more power. I would like to see the US become truly the land of the free

While your "police state" comment is a little over the top, you are correct in your assessment of the restrictive laws. The first thing to do is NOT vote for all the people creating these laws. Vote for the people who have proven to be committed to protecting our civil liberties. Then, hold those elected officials accountable for their actions. I have regular contact with my representatives. They recognize me at public events and we are on a first name basis. They know that if they screw up, they will have to listen to me bitching. They know that I follow what they do and how they vote. Believe me, it does have an impact.

I stand by my police state comment. Granted this is not Burma but can you name another country besides North Korea that has as many cops in proportion to population? I too call my representatives quite frequently and they most definately will get a call from me for this one. Right now I am gathering facts and plan on calling the ACLU once I get all the info. Silence=acceptance. I have heard from people that 16 people were cited for having two drinks in front of them at once. Typical beaurocratic !@#$ing bull sh--. What is the difference between a 16 oz Long Island ice tea or a shot and a beer? Back to the police state comment. Do you think Randy Weaver thinks we are a police state? What about John Lennon and MLK? If road blocks and seat belt checks are not an indicator of a police state then I dont know what is. I want to break the electoral college and render the idiots in each party useless. Vote Green! Vote Libertarian!

A 30 second search of GG's site (the check is in the mail, GG) reveals the following Police to Population ratios:
Thailand: 1:228
Malaysia: 1:249
Germany: 1:343
United States: 1:410
South Africa: 1:415
New Zealand: 1:416

Obviously, this is not complete.

I watched an episode of "Cops - New Orleans" where they were enforcing Bourbon St during Mardi Gras. The entire episode was the police arresting people smoking pot. What a worthy endeavor of our taxpayer money.
