GAH!

I admit I dont know much about Barte...but trading your best project for Renteria? He's a pretty fine ballplayer, but your BEST prospect for him?

Gant????????

you gotta cold? It's Marte. tongue.gif

Word is, link below, that Boston is shipping 11 million with Renteria. That's around 7 mill per year for Renteria, almost half of what Furcal is costing the Dodgers. Not too shabby I still say he had an off year last year and he'll be fine in Atlanta.

Losing Marte is big, yes, but he's a prospect. Who knows he could be the next Mike Schmidt but right now the Braves needed a SS and someone to stick in the leadoff spot. He does both.

It's going to take awhile before I question Schuerholz's judgement.

His talent evaluation skills and ability to keep the team at the top are indisputable.

But so is his INability to find that last player needed to get them more than one championship. You can blame that on ownership and perhaps lots of other factors. But ONE Series title when you have 14(?) Div titles is a bit light.

I'd contend that it's alot tougher to maintain excellence over such a term than it is to build a short term great run. I think that perhaps only once or twice in that run was Atlanta truly the class of baseball or even the National League.

Agreed. If they somehow got Trevor Hoffman to sign with them then this team looks every bit as good as last year.
