This could end out working out fine but in my estimation this is a knee jerk reaction to losing Wagner....too much money, too much time....he's 38 now, lock him up till he's 41?

It could be, but Gordon is very good when he's on his game. I'm suprised the Philies didn't keep Wagner. Maybe they didn't have the money. Either way, Ryan Madsen is a very good reliever so they have at least him if things get troubled.
Good riddance. The reports of him throwing up at Yankee Stadium during the 04 ALCS cause he couldn't take the pressure were disgusting... truly not worthy of wearing the pinstripes.
