if we keep zito, thats a fairly strong rotation, but we may move him since his contract is up at years end...of course the pitching hasnt been the problem in the recent years...sigh, what i wouldnt give for a solid masher, and not that puss erubiel durazo...also, i wouldnt mind getting a real SB threat, but Beane and his "moneyball" wont allow it...

I like it, gives a little more stability to the rotation. But, with all this talk about moving Zito, though....why didn't they try to lock him up with an extension and not worry about Loiaza?

That would be suprising if they traded Zito. He had an excellent year last year. To me, that makes no sense. Loiza is a good pickup only if he doesn't get overworked. He had an excellent season with the white sox a few years ago and was reliable with the Nationals last season. Maybe the A's could go after Frank Thomas if the needed a DH.

Its not a sure thing as of yet...The A's got a new owner last season, one whos willing to spend a few bucks (not angels style, but a few mroe than what oakland is used to), so Beane said that signing Loaiza doesnt mean anything, and they'll still try to work sometihng out with zito. That being said, if Beane gets the right deal, he wont hesitate to pull the trigger.
