The New Orleans Saints, H-E-B Grocery Company, the City of San Antonio and the Alamodome have teamed up to provide an official tailgating area prior to Saints games played at the Alamodome during the 2005 season.

The Saints will play three games at the Alamodome in 2005, starting with the Buffalo Bills on October 2, the Atlanta Falcons on October 16 and the Detroit Lions on December 24. All Alamodome Saints games kick off at noon and parking lots B and C have been designated as home for the "H-E-B Texas Sized Tailgate Party" prior to each contest.

Tailgating permits are only available for purchase in-person from the Alamodome Box Office for $20, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 10 am. One permit provides the purchaser one parking spot per game. A full list of rules and regulations is attached to this press release.

I didn't see anything attached to the press release...

$20 each for one parking spot and you have to purchase them in person at the Alamodome. That rules out anyone coming from outside the area. There are about 2,000 parking spaces in lots B & C.
Glad we planned the party at the Hotel.

after calling the alamodome here is the lowdown:

lot opens at 7 am, closes 1 hr after game.
no canopies, tents, or glass bottles.
no alcohol consumption before 10 am (!)
must purchase 20 dollar permit in person at alamodome box office (can do until 5 pm saturday)

i know there is the board tailgating at the holiday inn, but is anyone planning on tailgating at the lot? I live in SA, so its not hard for me to go get the permit. Just wondering if we would be the lone bills fans in a sea of Saints (well probably Cowboys) fans......

My buddy and I would like to attend the get together at the holiday inn on saturday, and maybe the sunday thing too, depending on the situation at the dome.

Thanks a bunch,

Don Frappier

Yea, eggs without a beer to wash them down with on game day just isn't the same.

i'm not from here (military, displaced from buffalo), so i'm not gonna even try to defend the lame san antonio attempt to make a tailgate party. They want a team so bad here that they may be trying to hard, but they are missing the biggest thing about having a successful franchise, and that is making the fan's happy.

The drinking before 10am is a Texas state law sad.gif Damn, damn.

I just got a call from the Holiday Inn late yesterday because they were just notified that they could open the bar early, but they couldn't sell alcohol before 10am. So, we've had to make some last minute changes.

There'll be a sign in the lobby that says "Bills Fan storage area" and a room number. I'll have a small fridge & a couple of empty coolers there with ice in case any wallers want to store some adult beverages overnight. I've reserved a small suite to have the additional room for more space.

Ripples Bar and Bodega Area at the Holiday Inn:

Saturday night 4pm to 6pm. Drink specials, Free snacks: Buffalo wings, chips/salsa, Quesadillas.
Long necks $2, Margaritas $2, Cocktails $3

Sunday AM 8:30am (all day) drink specials:
The bar will be open for merriment, hugs, high fives, beads and re-living all the great Bills games.....but no alcohol until 10am.

Drink Specials for the entire day (can anyone say "Victory Party"?)
Longnecks $2.50
Margaritas $3
Cocktails $3
Jumbo 20oz Screwdrivers & Bloody Marys $5
Food: Assorted deli croissant sandwiches/chips $4.99
or eat in the restaurant.

Does Texas make it illegal to drink before 10 AM, buy before 10 AM or buy beer from stores from before 10 AM? I'd hate for Texas police to make an "example" (revenue enhancement) of non-Texans as I have heard they done before.

If you are from another state with more "liberal" laws and early timezones do they apply to you? devil.gif

Selling, buying, drinking on government or public property.

Perhaps the parking lot around the Alamodome is city property?

Probably. How do Houston and Dallas handle this? (But then, are both those stadiums privately owned?)
